OHIO MUSIC EDUCATION ASSOCIATION, 2011 GENERAL MUSIC WORKSHOP

Patrick Ware’s workshop was amazing. I am taking several activities home to my classroom as a higher expectation of rhythmic activities that can be tackled there. He was also a wonderful example of how to be prepared, energetic and positive about education. Thank you!

Patrick,

Just a note to follow up with you after the awesome Orff Training in Miami, FL on Nov. 7th, 2009. I am the person that took a photo w/you (smile). I was so very much inspired by the Orff training with you. I went home and was motivated to write a few chants. Later, I took photos of the rhythm instruments my students use most.

I work with students demonstrating the most significant Intellectual Disabilities (formerly know and Profoundly Mentally Handicapped) and students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. After taking photos and writing a script, I put a presentation together using Windows Movie Maker. The students just loved it! I wanted to share it with you. Over the Holiday Break, I will brainstorm about other things to photograph and write chants about that the students will enjoy.

Thanks again for inspiring me to think outside of the "BOX" to help my students achieve their goals and benchmarks! Happy Holidays to your family and you.

Alice "K".

Patrick,

Today, for my daily warm up, I had students answer the following question: "What sound would make a good theme song for your life? Explain why."

One of your former students, replied:
"If I could pick any song to be my theme song it would be "Celebrate" by my elementary school chorus teacher. I would pick that because I love the song and all the things in the song I love to do. I also love to sing. The tune of the song is fun too. That's why I would pick "Celebrate" to be my theme song."

I thought this was too cute, so I had to pass it on. You must be doing something right!!!

Look forward to seeing you soon.
