The Stewart Choir and Orff Ensemble

"Singing To Learn!"

Brent M. Holl, Director Emeritus

Welcome to Brent Holl's Stewart Choir and Orff Ensemble Highlights web page.  The performing groups, performances, ideas, and activities presented here are for the reference and enjoyment of collegues and teachers around the country. This site is dedicated to middle school music in the design of Orff Schulwerk. Ideas for choir, Orff Ensemble and general music are here along with photos, sounds and sites of workshops, sessions, and conferences associated with the author's professional career.

In choir and orff ensemble classes, the students learn teamwork, self expression, self discipline, and respect and appreciation for music as a fine art. These classes perform in large and small groups and as soloists. A wide variety of musical forms and styles are presented with the emphasis always on variety and quality.  The sixth grade students explore all of the elements of music both as singers and as instrumentalists. Their exporation includes the nature of musical sounds, America's classical music, Jazz, and composition.

The Stewart Choir and Orff Ensemble was performance based, with every activity building skills and knowledge. Each class rehearsal built teamwork, confidence, and technique, creating beautiful music presented to an awaiting audience.   Click here to listen to some concert highlights by the Stewart Choir and Orff Ensemble.
