Shen Fine has named themselves after an a region in the Virginia Appalachians, and that name also frames the sound of their music- this is a music that sounds celtic and feels like American Folk. The trio even looks like authentic Appalachian pioneers themselves.
Their music is robust and full and seamlessly blends real Americana with the Scotch and Irish, and the combination is magical. The balladeer's voice is rich and calming, yet the lyrics break out with fierce energy. The songs on this album have been carefully chosen to create a true and thoughtful atmosphere that constantly reminds the listener of where this band comes from. And the guitar work, both on the six and the twelve string guitars, is very impressive. Swedish daily paper Hallandsposten - Gert-Ove Fridlund. Published November 23, 2005 |
